Shubert's Unfinished Marks Season Finale
David Anderson celebrated his inaugural concert as Music Director of the Orchestra May 22 at Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, with a selection of works featuring Schubert's Symphony No. 8, Unfinished and works by Brahms, Saint-Saens and Bach.
The evening was topped off by an enthusiastic performance of Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien. At right, Music DIrector Anderson congratulates Concertmaster Justin Chou for his contributions to the Orchestra's level of play. Mr. Chou will be Concertmaster for the Beloit-Janesville Symphony this summer.
4th Annual Pops Gala Another Smash!
Baritone Evan Bravos took Lake Geneva by storm with his March 20 performance of Aaron Copland's Old American Songs at the 4th Annual Pops Gala. Under the theme "American Songbook", the orchestra offered a rich sampling of music from John Phillip Sousa to Duke Ellington.
Andrew Dogan, former LGSO music director, returned to lead the orchestra through this delightful musical journey through our nation. The concert ended with an enthusiastic tribute to the late LGSO percussionist Mike Tumminello, whose great humor and great play will be missed. Following the concert was another tasty dessert reception, courtesy of Caribou Coffee of Lake Geneva, Panera Bread of Walworth plus North Walworth Heating, whose friends served us succulent sampling of sweets. Special thanks go to the many donors of silent auction prizes as well as the many volunteers who've worked to put this all together..
