My name is Michael Riggs and I am in only my second year with the Lake Geneva Symphony, but I’m happy to be here.  I am a member of the bass section.  I live in Antioch, Illinois, where I am also the Orchestra Director and AP Music Theory teacher at Antioch Community High School.  Outside of music, my other hobbies include cooking (and eating), reading, and running.  During quarantine this school year I decided against sourdough bread in favor of making French macarons.  So far my career as a macaron pastry chef has been mixed–those little cookies are wicked finicky.  My favorite experience with the LGSO so far, other than just the joy of being able to play music again, has definitely been preparing and performing Disney’s Fantasia for last summer’s Music By The Lake.  It was the first time I’ve ever done anything like that and it was an exciting experience.
